Installing Yesware
Yesware works inside your Gmail or Outlook (O365) inbox. Installation takes about a minute.
System Requirements
Gmail
- Browser: Current version of Chrome only
- Email hosting: Gmail (Google-hosted accounts only)
Outlook (O365)
- Account: Microsoft 365 (O365) hosted directly through Microsoft — GoDaddy-hosted and other third-party providers are not supported
- Windows: Outlook Web App on Chrome or Edge (Windows 10 or higher), or Outlook 2016 desktop v16.0+ (Windows 10 v1903+, Office 365 v1905+)
- Mac: Outlook Web App on Chrome, or Outlook 2016 desktop v16.13+ (macOS 10.12 or higher)
- Update channel: Set to Current or Semi-Annual (Targeted) — Semi-Annual only does not receive the latest version of Yesware
On Outlook for Mac, use the legacy Outlook experience. Go to Help > Revert to Legacy Outlook. This setting resets after 30 days and will need to be toggled again.
Installing Yesware
Gmail
- Go to yesware.com/install and select Gmail.
- Sign in with your Google account and grant Yesware access.
- If you're on the Enterprise plan, you'll also be prompted to authenticate with Salesforce.
Already have an account? Use the direct Gmail install link — it won't overwrite your existing account.
Outlook (O365)
- Visit Microsoft AppSource and click Get it Now.
- Close and re-open Outlook.
- Open or compose an email. Click the blue Y that appears in the Outlook ribbon to open the Yesware Sidebar.
- Sign in with your email address to connect your account.
If you're on the Enterprise plan, you'll also be prompted to authenticate with Salesforce.
Opening the Sidebar
The Sidebar is where you access tracking, templates, campaigns, and Meeting Scheduler. In Outlook, there are two Sidebars — one for your inbox and one for composing — and both need to be opened and pinned.
Outlook Desktop
Click the blue Y in the ribbon when viewing or composing an email.
Outlook Web App
- Open any email and click the ellipsis (...) in the upper right corner of the message.
- Scroll to Yesware and click Open Yesware.
- Click the pushpin icon to pin the Sidebar so it stays open.
For the New Message Sidebar, open and pin it separately while composing a new email. It must be open to send tracked emails — confirm tracking is active by checking the ON button in the Sidebar.
Keeping Yesware Up to Date (Gmail)
Chrome extensions update automatically, but you can force an update at any time:
- Open a new tab and go to
chrome://extensions - Enable Developer mode in the top right corner
- Click Update extensions now
The Free Plan
When your trial ends without a paid subscription, your account moves to the Free Plan automatically. The Free Plan includes:
- Email tracking for emails sent within the last 24 hours (up to 40 events)
- 10 Campaign recipients per month
- Unlimited Templates (stats not included)
- Unlimited Meeting Scheduler link insertions
- Unlimited Response Insights
- Unlimited Reminders and Send Later (Gmail)
Your data — teams, templates, campaigns, and tracking history — is preserved from your trial or previous subscription.
To access the Free Plan, the Gmail extension or Outlook add-in must be installed. Install it at yesware.com/install.
Uninstalling Yesware
Gmail (Chrome)
- Open a new tab and go to
chrome://extensions - Find Yesware on the list and click Remove
- Refresh Gmail
Outlook (O365)
- Click Get Add-ins in the Outlook ribbon
- Go to My add-ins and find Yesware
- Click the ellipsis (...) and select Remove

Uninstalling Yesware does not cancel a paid subscription. To cancel, go to app.yesware.com/account/plan and select Cancel Renewal.
When you remove the extension or add-in, Yesware stops collecting email and tracking data. For data erasure requests, contact support@yesware.com.
