Salesforce Sidebar

The Salesforce Sidebar lets you view, search, create, and edit Salesforce Contact, Lead, and Account records without leaving your inbox. It lives in Gmail's task pane alongside every email thread, so you can update your CRM, log tasks, and add new contacts without switching tabs.

info

The Salesforce Sidebar is available on the Enterprise plan only.

Open the Sidebar

The Sidebar lives in Gmail's task pane on the right-hand side of your inbox. Click the blue Yesware icon to open it. If the task pane isn't visible, click the Show side panel tab at the bottom right of Gmail.

You can also open the Sidebar directly from any email thread by clicking the blue cloud icon next to an email address. This automatically searches the Sidebar for any matching Contact or Lead — no need to open the Sidebar and search manually.

Look up a Contact or Lead

Type the person's name or email address in the search bar at the top of the Sidebar. If one record matches, you go directly to it. If multiple records match, a list appears for you to choose from. Searching by email address gives the most accurate results.

Create a Contact or Lead

  1. Search by email address to confirm no record already exists.
  2. Click Create new person.
  3. Select whether to create a Contact or Lead using the toggle at the top.
  4. Fill in the fields, including any required or custom fields from your Salesforce environment.
  5. Click Save.

Create a Task

  1. Open the Contact or Lead record in the Sidebar.
  2. Click New Task.
  3. Fill in the task details and any required fields.
  4. Click Save.

Edit a Contact, Lead, or Account

  1. Open the record in the Sidebar — either by searching or by opening an email thread with a matching recipient.
  2. Click Edit at the bottom left of the record.
  3. Update the fields you need to change.
  4. Click Save — changes apply directly to your Salesforce environment.

To edit Account-level details, click the Account Name from the Contact page to open the Account record, then click Edit.
