Getting Started with Advertising Intelligence
Advertising Intelligence brings your ad campaigns from Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and other platforms under one roof. This guide walks you through connecting your accounts, viewing your campaigns, and understanding your ROI so you can see what's working and grow your business.
Getting started checklist
- Connect your first ad platform: Link Google Ads, Facebook Ads, or another supported platform.
- View your campaigns in the Overview: See your metrics and dashboard.
- Set up your ROI calculator: Enter Average Sale and Close Rate for accurate ROI.
- Configure conversion tracking: Track phone calls, form fills, and other conversions (optional).
- Explore Advertisements and the Executive Report: Compare campaigns and view advertising data alongside other marketing metrics.
Step 1: Connect your first ad platform
Before you can see your ad performance, you need to connect at least one advertising platform. Advertising Intelligence supports Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Microsoft (Bing) Ads, LinkedIn Ads, TikTok Ads, and others.
How to connect an ad platform
- Go to Advertising Intelligence > Settings.
- Find the platform you want to connect (for example, Google Ads or Facebook Ads).
- Click Connect.
- Complete the authorization steps in the pop-up window.
For Google Ads, see Connecting Google Ads Manager. For Facebook Ads, see Connect multiple Facebook Ad accounts. To connect specific campaigns instead of entire accounts (requires Advanced Reporting), see Connecting individual ad campaigns.
Only connect platforms where you have an active ad account. Data will start syncing once the connection is complete.
Step 2: View your campaigns in the Overview
Once you've connected an ad platform, your campaigns appear in the Overview section. This is your main dashboard for impressions, clicks, conversions, spend, and ROI across all connected platforms.
How to access the Overview
- Go to Advertising Intelligence > Overview.
- Use the settings icon in the top-right corner to configure which metrics display.
- Review your campaign table for performance by platform and campaign.
The Overview shows high-level stats (Clicks, Impressions, Conversions, Spend, CTR, Average CPC) and a detailed campaign table. For more on customizing your view, see Customizable settings and key metrics.
Step 3: Set up your ROI calculator
The ROI calculator combines your Average Sale and Close Rate with Conversions and Spend data from connected platforms to show precise return on investment. Entering these values helps you understand how much revenue your ads generate.
How to configure ROI data
- Go to Advertising Intelligence > Overview.
- Locate the ROI calculator section.
- Enter your Average Sale value (the typical value of a closed sale).
- Enter your Close Rate (the percentage of leads that become paying customers).
- Save your changes.
The system uses this data with your conversion and spend metrics to calculate ROI across your campaigns.
Step 4: Configure conversion tracking
Conversion tracking shows which ads lead to valuable actions (phone calls, form fills, purchases). Accurate conversion data improves your ROI calculations and helps you optimize campaigns.
Options for conversion tracking
- Call tracking: Connect CallRail or Telmetrics to attribute phone calls to your ads.
- Google Analytics: Track conversions with Google Analytics to pull conversion data into Advertising Intelligence.
- Facebook custom conversions: Custom conversion selection for Facebook Ads lets you define which events count as conversions.
- Google Ads conversion sources: Configure Google Ads conversion sources and categories for Google-specific conversion tracking.
Start with one conversion source (for example, call tracking or Google Analytics) and add more as needed.
Step 5: Explore Advertisements and the Executive Report
After your campaigns are connected, use the Advertisements section to compare performance and creatives side by side. Your advertising data also appears in the Executive Report alongside your other Business App products.
Advertisements
- Go to Advertising Intelligence > Advertisements.
- Select campaigns to compare performance metrics.
- Review creative assets and their performance.
- For LocalAds, configure conversion customization and form fills if applicable.
Executive Report
Once connected, advertising data (Impressions, Clicks, Conversions, Phone Calls) automatically appears in your Executive Report. No extra setup is required.
